January 28, 2013: Request
for Expressions of Interest: South Island Development on
Governors Island
The Trust for Governors Island is excited to release this
Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEI) for the development
of 33 acres of prime real estate on Governors Island. A
broad range of developers, nonprofits, institutions, and
other interested groups are invited to offer visionary ideas
for this truly unique property. The Trust welcomes commercial,
educational, and cultural uses that take advantage of the
unmatched potential of this Island and make a meaningful
contribution to its future.
This RFEI is completely independent from the currently open RFP
for Adaptive Re-use of Historic District Buildings.
Respondents who are developing proposals for that RFP process
should continue to do so. This RFEI is only for development
zones on the southern part of Governors Island, and does
not involve the Historic District.
