4heads Governors Island Art Fair

through October 1
Saturdays, Sundays
Colonels Row

In September 2017, Governors Island Art Fair (GIAF) will be celebrating its 10th anniversary on the Island and 4heads has much in store for its anniversary edition. 4heads will bring together some of the most acclaimed artists from previous fair iterations, while continuing its decades-long tradition of providing a platform for young, emerging, and underrepresented artists from New York, and across the country and world. From painting, photography, and sculpture to video and immersive installations, the works featured in GIAF enliven historic locations such as Colonels Row, Fort Jay, and Castle Williams and connect contemporary artistic practice with the Island’s interesting and little-known past.

In addition to the fair, 4heads will be hosting its annual Artists in Residence and open studios program in the summer months, encouraging the public to engage with active art-making and the creative process.

The summer season will also feature 4heads Arts Education Programs, which bring kids groups from NYC organizations such as Lower Eastside Girls Club, The Chinatown Y, and Two Bridges Neighborhood Council to Governors Island for a wide variety of programs ranging from dancing and drumming, to painting and puppet-making.
