Foraged Color—Making a Palette from Governors Island

Free Work­shop

Join Rory Torstens­son (2025 RU alum) for an explorato­ry col­or work­shop where art, ecol­o­gy, and obser­va­tion come togeth­er. Par­tic­i­pants will for­age nat­ur­al mate­ri­als — rocks, leaves, flow­ers, soil — and use them as ref­er­ences to mix paint and match the col­ors found in the land­scape. Par­tic­i­pants will leave with a per­son­al library of repeat­able col­ors drawn direct­ly from Gov­er­nors Island. 

Res­i­den­cy Unlim­it­ed is one of the 2026 Gov­er­nors Island Arts Orga­ni­za­tions in Res­i­dence.
