Following the conclusion of a successful Request for Expressions of Interest the Trust for Governors Island is thrilled to announce the next steps in the competition to establish a global Center for Climate Solutions on Governors Island. As the final phase of a global competition, four teams led by top universities will respond to a targeted Request for Proposals (RFP). Announced as part of Mayor Eric Adams’ Rebuild, Renew, Reinvent: A Blueprint for NYC’s Economic Recovery,” the RFP will select an anchor academic and research partner to build a new state of the art institution dedicated to researching and demonstrating urban climate solutions, and advancing education and training opportunities for New Yorkers in climate and environmental fields.

This RFP is open to finalist-led teams selected from June, 2021 RFEI only.

RFP Release Date: April 21, 2022
Digital Information Sessions: May 9 at 2 PM, June 6 at 2 PM. Eligible Respondents should contact the Trust at climatecenter@govisland.org to submit a full list of planned attendees and request a registration link no later than Monday, May 2, for the May session and Tuesday, May 31, for the June session.
Site Tours: Site visits are available for Eligible Respondents and invited members of their teams only. Visits are available upon request by sending an email to climatecenter@govisland.org.
Proposals Due: July 27, 2022, at 5 PM

Interested in joining a pre-qualified respondent team? Organizations interested in partnership opportunities can fill out this form by June 13, 2022. The Trust will distribute partnership information to ALL Finalists; please note that the Trust will not be providing contact information for the Finalists to outside parties.
