Concerts and Kayaks: This Weekend on Governors Island

This weekend: Saturday, July 25: Free Kayaks, 11AM to 4PM on Friday, Noon to 5PM on Saturday Come and borrow a free kayak to experience kayaking in New York Harbor. The program is sponsored by the Downtown Boathouse and is available at Pier 101. Sunday, July 26: Folks on the Island with Judy Collins Presented by Trinity Wall Street, 2PM For forty years, folk music legend Judy Collins has created music of hope and healing that speaks to the heart and inspires the world. www.folksontheisland.comOngoing EventsCreative Time presents Plot 09: This World and Nearer Ones Creative Time commissioned projects by over 20 major international artists, which are located across Governors Island. Children’s Museum of the Arts (CMA) Island Outpost Every Friday – Sunday, 11AM to 3PM, CMA runs free hands-on children’s art programs out of an historic building in Nolan Park. Visitors are invited to drop by the house each day to enjoy a range of arts based activities. Figment’s Artist Designed Miniature Golf Visitors can play a free round of miniature golf. All day Friday – Sunday. The Sculptors Guild presents “Formative Lines: Working in Drawing and Sculpture” An exhibition featuring drawings and sculptures from 25 members of the Sculptors Guild. On Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26, there is a free ferry running every half hour between Manhattan and Governors Island. A free ferry will also run every twenty minutes between Fulton Ferry Landing in Brooklyn and Governors Island.
