Field Report: Looks Like Demo­li­tion, but Not Quite

These build­ings look like they’ve been ¹⁄₂ demol­ished, but in fact the real demo­li­tion work has­n’t yet begun. For the past sev­er­al weeks, work­ers have been metic­u­lous­ly remov­ing poten­tial­ly haz­ardous mate­ri­als, like asbestos found in win­dow caulk, from the ​“Dog Bone” build­ings in prepa­ra­tion for demo­li­tion. Once these build­ings are ​“clean,” it won’t take very long for the exca­va­tor machines to tear them down.
