Dirt is dirt, right? Wrong. High quality topsoil, the kind of dirt that helps sustain flowers, grass and trees, is actually hard to find. To keep costs down and ensure healthy long lives for everything green in our new park, we’re making our own dirt right here on Governors Island. The machine you’re looking at is a screener, which helps sift soil components. No doubt we’ll have lots to say about dirt in the coming months…
