Free Fourth of July Fun on Gov­er­nors Island

[cap­tion id=“attachment_3503” align=“aligncenter” width=“298” caption=“Rosanne Cash plays a free con­cert on Colonels Row at 2 PM on Sun­day (pho­to from www​.rosan​necash​.com)”][/​caption] Gov­er­nors Island is the per­fect place to enjoy free con­certs, activ­i­ties and a great view of the Stat­ue of Lib­er­ty this Fourth of July week­end. On Sun­day, July 4, there are two free con­certs on Gov­er­nors Island. Rosanne Cash will play a free show in Colonels Row and Water Taxi Beach will host She & Him. On Fourth of July week­end, Gov­er­nors Island is open from 10 AM to 5 PM on Fri­day and 10 AM7 PM on Sat­ur­day and Sun­day. Fourth of July fire­works are not vis­i­ble from Gov­er­nors Island due to their loca­tion. On the fourth, Rosanne Cash, daugh­ter of leg­endary singer/​songwriter John­ny Cash, will per­form in a free con­cert pre­sent­ed by Trin­i­ty Wall Street. The con­cert will run from 2 PM4 PM and will be held on Colonels Row. Lawn seat­ing is avail­able at this show and vis­i­tors are wel­come to bring their own chairs and blan­kets. Colonels Row pro­vides many acres of open green space for all Gov­er­nors Island vis­i­tors to enjoy the con­cert. [cap­tion id=“attachment_3504” align=“aligncenter” width=“300” caption=“She & Him play at Water Taxi Beach at 4 (pho­to from www​.she​and​him​.com)”][/​caption] Also on Sun­day, Water Taxi Beach will hold a free She & Him con­cert. The con­cert begins at 4 PM but vis­i­tors are encour­aged to arrive ear­ly to enjoy the beach before the show. Capac­i­ty of the venue is lim­it­ed to 3,500 and vis­i­tors will be admit­ted on a first come, first served basis. The con­cert runs from 4 PM6 PM. Gov­er­nors Island clos­es at 7 PM on July 4. Water Taxi Beach will remain open for a show with Vic­tor Calderone but that is the only area of the Island that will be open after 7 PM. Tick­ets are required for that show. So come out dur­ing the day on July 4 to cel­e­brate Inde­pen­dence Day with bik­ing, pic­nics and free after­noon concerts.
