The good folks behind Meatopia (com­ing to Gov­er­nors Island on July 11) have asked us to name a new beer in hon­or of Gov­er­nors Island and Good Beer Month. Crowd-sourc­ing worked so well with the nam­ing of Pic­nic Point that we’re back with anoth­er nam­ing con­test. Toss your ideas into the ring in the com­ments sec­tion below. The win­ner will recieve 5 sec­onds of fame and life­time brag­ging rights. But act fast, the dead­line for this con­test is mid­night tonight! What is Meatopia?

Bar­be­cu­ing. For one unfor­get­table sum­mer day.” Gov­er­nors Island, Sun­day, July 11th, 2010 from 11:30am – 4:30pm The inau­gur­al Meatopia event, co-host­ed by James Beard Award win­ning food writer Josh Ozer­sky along with Taste of Tribeca Co-Chair and Good Beer Month Founder, Jim­my Car­bone and mas­ter pit mas­ter Rob­bie Richter of Fat­ty ​‘Cue, will fea­ture a select group of 30+ top chefs and BBQ teams bar­be­cu­ing local and sus­tain­able meats for one unfor­get­table sum­mer day. As the pin­na­cle event in May­or Bloomberg’s ​“July Good Beer Month”, Meatopia: BBQ NYC is a food fes­ti­val focus­ing and sup­port­ing the local com­mu­ni­ty with walk-around tast­ings, beer and live enter­tain­ment. In the spir­it of sus­tain­abil­i­ty we ask that all par­tic­i­pat­ing chefs con­sid­er using meat from ani­mals that have been raised respon­si­bly and humane­ly.
