Gov­er­nors Island Has Record Sea­son To Date (and sum­mer has­n’t even offi­cial­ly begun!)

Gov­er­nors Island has wel­comed more than 30,000 vis­i­tors since the 2009 sea­son began on May 30. That is more than twice as many peo­ple as vis­it­ed dur­ing that same peri­od last year! There has been a lot going on out here — we had a polo match with Prince Har­ry, an incred­i­ble jazz per­for­mance by Michael Arenel­la and His Dream­land Orches­tra, the incred­i­ble and inter­ac­tive FIG­MENT, and so much more. We also just intro­duced our free fer­ry to Brook­lyn and recent­ly kicked off Free Bike Fri­days.
