[/caption] You may think Governors Island is all hammocks and kittens, but it’s a full-time job for all the people who are transforming the Island. And one of the most frequently asked questions for anyone who works on the Island is, “How do you get to work?” The answer, of course, is that we get there the same way you do, by ferry. As you can see by the photo above, more and more of us are starting our journey to work by bike. And so to you we say, “Happy Bike to Work Day!” The City has built more than 200+ miles of bike lanes over the past several years, making it safer and easier to get around New York City by bike. And those new lanes aren’t just there for commuting, but also for shopping, visiting friends, exploring the city, and getting you to your favorite care-free island oasis… Governors Island will open for the summer in just one week, and biking is a great way to get around the Island.
