Happy Thanksgiving from Governors Island!

Last year we shared a Thanksgiving recipe from the Enlisted Men’s Wives Club of Governors Island Cookbook, and we’ve heard there were some great Thanksgiving Turkey Trots over the years for the Coast Guard brats who grew up here. Though the Island no longer has any permanent residents, there are hundreds of staff, designers, engineers, construction and security crew members, NPS park rangers, students, artists and others who trek out to the Island every day… and of course the hundreds of thousands of enthusiastic visitors, performers, and organizations who come to experience the Island’s magic every summer. So this Thanksgiving, we simply want to send a big thank you to everyone who has supported or contributed to the Island’s ongoing transformation this year! Wishing everyone a safe and wonderful holiday. [caption id=“attachment_7361” align=“aligncenter” width=“468”]View of first 30 acres of new park from Liggett Hall.
