Harbor School Receives Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award

[/caption] Last night, Governors Island’s very own Urban Assembly New York Harbor School received the Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award from the New York Landmarks Conservancy. The Moses Awards are the Conservancy’s highest honors for outstanding preservation efforts. The award is named for Lucy Moses, a New Yorker who generously supported parks, hospitals, schools, and cultural institutions throughout the City. The New York Landmarks Conservancy states that “Preservation Awards are given to projects that demonstrate excellence in the restoration, preservation, or adaptive use of historic buildings, streetscapes, and landscapes that preserve commercial, residential, institutional, religious, and public buildings.” The Harbor School was recognized alongside such incredible New York landmarks as the New York Public Library and the Belasco Theater.
