Let the loung­ing begin

Gov­er­nors Island’s newest pic­nic space, Pic­nic Point, over­look­ing the expanse of New York har­bor and the Stat­ue of Lib­er­ty is open to the pub­lic. Pic­nic tables, bench­es, swings, pic­nic cabanas and a work­ing farm are all on their way this sum­mer. This week­end vis­i­tors enjoyed a new crop of bright red ham­mocks and soaked up the sum­mer sun and breezes. Island vis­i­tors kicked up their heels at the Jazz Age fes­ti­val with the Dream­land Orches­tra, then saun­tered or bicy­cled down to Pic­nic Point and put up their feet for some Island relax­ation. Addi­tion­al ham­mocks will soon be avail­able through­out the Island. If you are on the Island enjoy­ing FIG­MENT this week­end, be sure to head south and take in the views from a cheer­ful red hammock!
