For the past several months, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council has run artist studios in Building 110 on Governors Island. Many of our visitors to the Island this public access season had the pleasure of seeing a variety of exhibits by the artists that work on the Island everyday. This Thursday and Friday, LMCC and The TEAM (Theater of the Emerging American Moment) will open the doors to Building 110 for open rehearsals of “Mission Drift.” The show will première in the spring of 2011 and this open rehearsal provides an opportunity for the ensemble to receive some feedback on this evolving work. If you would like to see this work in progress, you can take the 2:15 ferry, which departs from the Battery Maritime Building, at 10 South Street. The performance will run approximately 100 minutes, after which audiences are invited to stay for tea and conversation. Return ferries are scheduled for 5PM and 6PM. If you are interested in attending, an RSVP is required. Please email theteamplays@gmail.com with “WORKSHOP RESERVATION” in the subject heading, as well as the number of tickets, name, and contact information. Seating is highly limited so early reservations are strongly encouraged. This is a rare opportunity to experience the arts on Governors Island during the off-season.
