A related article, “A Selective Guide to Island Hopping,” is a succinct guide to the Island’s offerings. The article starts off by profiling a typical visitor, who was introduced as a curmudgeonly Manhattanite living a short bike ride away: It’s New York’s best-kept secret,” Mr. Hanan, 45, gushed minutes later, while biking along the island’s eastern edge with views of the Buttermilk Channel, the Brooklyn waterfront and the East River bridges.So, the secret’s out.
