Not Your Regular Summer School: PEN’s Worker Writers’ Summer School Happening This Weekend!

Come out and enjoy this free, two-day summer school event taking place all weekend in Nolan Park! This event will be co-hosted by many organizations such as the Workers from the Street Vendor Project, Domestic Workers United, Haitian Women for Haitian Refugees, the Taxi Workers Alliance, and other New York City worker centers and trade unions.
Events at the inaugural “summer school” include a poetry workshop with American Book Award winner Rigoberto González, public conversations with authors/activists Vijay Prashad and Bill Ayers, and a closing poetry reading by the domestic workers, taxi drivers, and other workers on Sunday at 4pm.
There are many panels, workshops, poetry readings and a writing of a 200 FOOT WORK POEM happening all weekend! Don’t miss it!
Ferries are running from Manhattan AND Brooklyn every half hour. The 10, 11 and 11:30 AM ferries from Manhattan are FREE and the 11 and 11:30AM ferries from Brooklyn are also free so be sure to head out early!
