Not Your Reg­u­lar Sum­mer School: PEN’s Work­er Writ­ers’ Sum­mer School Hap­pen­ing This Weekend!

Come out and enjoy this free, two-day sum­mer school event tak­ing place all week­end in Nolan Park! This event will be co-host­ed by many orga­ni­za­tions such as the Work­ers from the Street Ven­dor Project, Domes­tic Work­ers Unit­ed, Hait­ian Women for Hait­ian Refugees, the Taxi Work­ers Alliance, and oth­er New York City work­er cen­ters and trade unions.

Events at the inau­gur­al ​“sum­mer school” include a poet­ry work­shop with Amer­i­can Book Award win­ner Rigob­er­to González, pub­lic con­ver­sa­tions with authors/​activists Vijay Prashad and Bill Ayers, and a clos­ing poet­ry read­ing by the domes­tic work­ers, taxi dri­vers, and oth­er work­ers on Sun­day at 4pm.

There are many pan­els, work­shops, poet­ry read­ings and a writ­ing of a 200 FOOT WORK POEM hap­pen­ing all week­end! Don’t miss it!

Fer­ries are run­ning from Man­hat­tan AND Brook­lyn every half hour. The 10, 11 and 11:30 AM fer­ries from Man­hat­tan are FREE and the 11 and 11:30AM fer­ries from Brook­lyn are also free so be sure to head out early!
