As it was last year, the match will be free and open to Governors Island visitors. Nacho Figueras, the captain of Black Watch will again return to play in the exhibition match. Between World War I and World War II, polo was often played on Governors Island. Last year’s Manhattan Polo Classic marked the return of this historic use to the Island for the first time in nearly 75 years. Check out NewYorkology which summarizes some events that are planned for our upcoming season. And, in the meantime, make your plans to come to the Island on May 30 to celebrate our opening day with an incredible polo match at the center of New York Harbor.
