If you want to experience hands-on arts programs and crafts, these programs are right up your alley. More information is below: Body Casting Workshop presented by the Sculptors Guild Saturday in tent behind Building 403, 11am — 4pm Cast your finger, cast your hand or cast your face! Workshop participants leave this workshop not only with the beginning knowledge of mold making and casting products and techniques, but also with a beautiful casting of their finger, hand or face. No advanced registration required. Instruction is free. Material fees apply: $3 finger, $15 hand, $25 face. Harvestworks presents Critical Bands Revisited (Governors Island Remix) Saturday in Building 10B, 12pm – 4pm Critical Bands is a new multi-channel audio piece by Thomas Martinez. Thomas will perform by broadcasting separate but interwoven field recordings made on the island to radio receivers placed in the grass outside of Building 10‑B. The audio tracks create an altered version of the island’s real sonic landscape by magnifying and coloring small moments in time. The recordings mix with the natural sound environment to create two related but wholly different realities. Guests are also invited to move the portable speakers around the grass to help each other discover new sounds from familiar material. Better Than Jam’s Craft Workshop Saturday in Building 6B, 1pm Crochet simple flowers with plastic yarn, use them as a brooch or string them along as a garland or make a keychain. You can also try making them with these flower looms. Bring our your creative side by stopping by any of these workshops on Saturday afternoon.
