Contain Yourselves — Sneak-Peak Summer 2009!

- Containers are stowed away for the winter
8 12’ x 8’ corrugated metal containers were donated to GIPEC by the Bohen Foundation, an arts organization that specializes in commissioning projects by young artists that it later donates to institutions. The boxes were developed by the architecture firm Lo-Tek to create flexible office space in Bohen’s Chelsea gallery. Come summer 2009, the containers will be situated in the newly accessible south Island picnic area with unmatched views of the Statue of Liberty and the New York Harbor. Whether you call them “urban gazebos” or “industrial cabanas,” come to Governors Island this summer, claim a container and relax in the harbor breezes with your friends and family.
