Snow covered Island

Many of Governors Island’s visitors are used to seeing the Island blanketed with art installations, full of bike riders and people picnicking, playing sports, or enjoying a free performance. Since the Island is open from June — mid-October, very few New Yorkers have actually seen the Island when it is covered in snow and the trees are bare. After Wednesday’s snowstorm brought lots of new snow (and a snow day for kids and adults across the city), we thought our readers would be interested to see how beautiful Governors Island looks during the colder winter months.
