[/caption] From June 1 — 12, actors, directors and playwrights will come to Governors Island each day to work together on never before produced scripts. Sundance received 650 applications for only 10 spots in the theatre lab program. Construction on the Sundance Institute’s complex in Utah has made the temporary move to Governors Island and MASS MoCA possible this year. So instead of working amidst the beauty of the Rocky mountains, the writers and directors will work in the Island’s Pershing Hall, with incredible views of Lower Manhattan and New York Harbor. The projects chosen for Governors Island include: Civilization by Jason Grote; Directed by Daniel Aukin Look, We Are Breathing by Laura Jacqmin; Directed by Mark Brokaw
