The Vendys Are Coming!

[/caption] One of New York City’s most exciting food events is coming to Governors Island. Mark your calendar for the Vendy Awards, New York’s premier street food showcase event, which will come to the Island on September 25. The Vendy Awards recognize New York City’s best food vendors. New Yorkers like you can nominate your favorite vendor and then a group of finalists are chosen. The finalists will be out on Governors Island and will battle it out for the title of Vendy Award winner and the Silver Vendy Cup. Tickets are required for the Vendys but all Governors Island visitors will have the chance to experience Vendy Award winning food because former winners will be stationed around the Island to sell their food to the public. The Vendy Awards also raise funds for the Street Vendor Project. So come hungry and visit Governors Island on September 25 to see what chef Mario Batali has called “the Oscars for food for real New York.”
