- Investigate Army history right in your backyard! This Saturday, Governors Island National Park Service hosts a number of family-friendly programs along with historic weapons demonstrations and music. Check out the newly re-opened Castle Williams as well!
- Bring your running shoes and a competitive spirit and come out to RECESS’s Outdoor Badminton tournament, as last year’s defending champions look to stay undefeated! Or, spread a picnic blanket on the beautiful Colonels Row and enjoy special guest DJs as they spin tunes all day long!
- No need to be an artist for this project! Come out and participate in DrawNow! with the artists J Carpenter on Saturday and/or Velerie Hallier and Andy Deck on Sunday where you could find yourself rethinking the lines of the Manhattan skyline or creating a panoramic visualization of Fort Jay.
- Trisha Brown’s iconic dance company will visit the island to perform open rehearsals that offer audiences a rare, behind the scenes look at the process leading up to the unveiling of the company’s newest performance, Astral Converted, at the Park Avenue Armory.
- North Face Get Outside on Governors Island’s 10K run and Free Kids scrambles are this weekend! Good luck to all those that are participating and come out and support.
- Make Music New York transforms Governors Island into Punk Island with dozens of performances throughout the day. For more information visit www.makemusicny.org.
