This Weekend: FIGMENT and Free Bike Fridays

[/caption] There are so many exciting events and programs on Governors Island this weekend it is hard to know where to start! Free Bike Fridays begins tomorrow with more bikes than ever before. On Bike and Roll’s Free Bike Fridays, visitors can borrow a bike entirely for free for up to one hour. You can of course bring your own bike to the Island from Friday — Sunday, or you can rent one on the weekend. Free Bike Fridays is one of the Island’s most popular programs and we are thrilled that it is returning for the third straight year. FIGMENT also comes to the Island this weekend. FIGMENT is an annul, participatory art festival that features the work of hundreds of artists. Visitors coming to the Island this weekend will see installations, art exhibits, performances, an artist designed miniature golf course, an interactive sculpture garden, and much more. The miniature golf course and the sculpture garden will remain open for the rest of the Island’s public season, but the festival will only be happening this weekend. FIGMENT even developed an iPhone app with maps and schedules of arts art, activities and performances that visitors will see around the Island on FIGMENT weekend.
