Across the East River this morning, the Governor, Mayor and local elected officials gathered in the rain for a ribbon cutting for Pier 1 of Brooklyn Bridge Park. We’ve been watching the construction from afar all year, and the rolling green hills of Pier 1 are now visible from Governors Island. We look forward to this summer when visitors can visit Pier 1 and the next-to-be-open-with-an-awesome-hot-playground Pier 6, and hop on a ferry for more adventure on Governors Island. And you can be sure that the first dry day you’ll find one of us sitting after work on the steps of the park’s “Granite Prospect. ”
