Discover how oysters help purify water while creating oyster shells and pearls from clay at this workshop with Taiwanese American Arts Council (TAAC) artist Andrea Coronil. Using real shells as molds, participants will shape and paint their own, then explore découpage with printed patterns. For a metallic touch, they’ll upcycle candy wrappers to decorate shells with shimmer. Finally, clay beads will be painted into lifelike pearls. This hands-on workshop blends art, ecology, and creative reuse, inviting all ages to craft works of beauty and environmental meaning.

TAAC s one of the 2025 Governors Island Arts Organizations in Residence.
