Collaging With Crafts

Look­ing for a cre­ative and mean­ing­ful way to spend the week­end with the fam­i­ly? Col­lag­ing with Crafts is a vibrant, hands-on work­shop designed for kids and fam­i­lies of all ages to explore art­mak­ing togeth­er in a play­ful and wel­com­ing space. Led by artist Sole­na Aguilar, this ses­sion invites par­tic­i­pants to cre­ate col­lages inspired by the tex­tures around them and the sto­ries they car­ry by using their hands to rip paper and com­bine a col­or­ful mix of tex­tures, pat­terns, and found mate­ri­als. No expe­ri­ence need­ed — just curios­i­ty and a will­ing­ness to explore!

Sole­na is an artist-in-res­i­dence at Art­Crawl Harlem work­ing on their sec­ond bilin­gual chil­dren’s book. As a tex­tile and tex­ture artist, Sole­na cre­ates joy­ful, vibrant pieces that reflect their Nicaraguan ances­try and life­long love for pat­terns and sto­ry­telling. Their work­shops are spaces where art becomes a way to con­nect with oth­ers and explore col­or, tex­ture, and imagination.
