Earth Day Celebration

Cel­e­brate Earth Day on Gov­er­nors Island! Fea­tur­ing free activ­i­ties for all ages, includ­ing eco­log­i­cal stew­ard­ship, walk­ing tours, an Island-wide scav­enger hunt, seed­ball work­shops, a tree stamp­ing art activ­i­ty, cli­mate tech demos, DJ sets, com­mu­ni­ty sci­ence exhibits, and more. 

Earth Day is pre­sent­ed by the Trust for Gov­er­nors Island. Addi­tion­al event part­ners: Bil­lion Oys­ter Project, Earth Mat­ter NY, the Low­er East­side Girls Club, NYC Bird Alliance, Street Lab, The New York Cli­mate Exchange, Rego, RETI Cen­ter, its­e­lec­tric, Sea­weed City, Bio­hab­i­tats, Car­bon­CLAIR, Cir­cu­lar Econ­o­my Man­u­fac­tur­ing, and more to be announced. Fea­tur­ing food from Mak­i­na Café and Lit­tle Eva’s.

• 10AM-3PM: Tabling with the Trust for Gov­er­nors Island cli­mate pilot­ing partners
• 10AM-2PM: Vol­un­teer project with Bil­lion Oys­ter Project (at their shell pile)
• 10AM-12:30PM: Lead­ing Cli­mate Action by Res­i­dents for Res­i­dents with The New York Cli­mate Exchange and Pub­lic Hous­ing Com­mu­ni­ty Fund (Build­ing 309)
• 11AM-3PM: EXPLORE pop-up nature exhib­it and READ pop-up read­ing room with Street Lab, cli­mate tech demon­stra­tions, tree sam­ple print­mak­ing with Patrick Costel­lo and Gov­er­nors Island Nature, vol­un­teer­ing with Earth Matter
• 11:45AM: Guid­ed tree tour with Gov­er­nors Island Nature
• 12 – 4PM: Open [Block] House with the Insti­tute for Pub­lic Archi­tec­ture (Nolan Park Build­ing 9)
  
• 12:30PM: Seed sow­ing vol­un­teer stew­ard­ship with Gov­er­nors Island Nature
• 1:45PM: Guid­ed bird and tree tour with Gov­er­nors Island Nature and NYC Bird Alliance
