Save the date for Earth Day 2026 on Governors Island! Featuring free activities for all ages, including ecological stewardship, walking tours, an outdoor sound bath, climate tech demos, food trucks, community science, and more to be announced.
Earth Day partners include Arbon, BikeNYC, CarbonClair, Circular Economy Manufacturing, CLIP, CO Adaptive, DuYe Moves, Earth Matter NY, Empire Clean Cities, the Institute for Public Architecture, Just EcoCities, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC), The New York Climate Exchange, NYC Bird Alliance, Public Housing Community Fund, Red Hook Art Project, RETI Center, Seaweed City, and more.
EVENT SCHEDULE
All events and activities will take place in Liggett Terrace unless otherwise noted.
- 10AM-2PM: Live demos from the Governors Island Climate Pilots, Compost Scavenger Hunt with Earth Matter NY, Seedball Making and Cyanotype Print workshops with Governors Island Nature
- 10AM-1PM: Drop-in volunteering with Billion Oyster Project (Shell Pile, click here for directions)
- 10:30 – 11:30AM: Birding Tour with NYC Bird Alliance
- 10:30AM-12:30PM: NYCHA Resident Climate Action Grants Celebration with The New York Climate Exchange, Public Housing Community Fund, and LMCC (LMCC’s Arts Center) Register here »
