Feralpy

Fer­alpy is a month-long pro­gram curat­ed by Jemi­la MacE­wan and Amelia Heintzel­man shar­ing the diverse prac­tices of 40 artists through work­shops, per­for­mances, film screen­ings, dura­tional expe­ri­ences and instal­la­tions. This pro­gram unearths the myr­i­ad of ways that artists’ cre­ative process­es often serve as a ther­a­peu­tic or heal­ing prac­tice for the artist, their com­mu­ni­ty or soci­ety. Fer­alpy is pre­sent­ed by Flux Factory. 

As a mat­ter of per­son­al and cre­ative sur­vival, these exper­i­men­tal forms of ther­a­py are often born out of a need for dis­tinct cre­ative meth­ods for work­ing through the spe­cif­ic chal­lenges of neu­ro-diver­gency, trau­ma, high-sen­si­tiv­i­ty, queer­ness and alien­ation which are com­mon expe­ri­ences for artists. These forms of ther­a­py are rarely com­mod­i­fied in the well­ness indus­tri­al com­plex and thus are invis­i­ble and inac­ces­si­ble to many. In Fer­alpy we get curi­ous about these free-range heal­ing prac­tices and invite artists to share them with a wider audi­ence in an acces­si­ble, stig­ma-free, and dona­tion-based format.
