Floating Aura: Live Expanded Cinema Performance by Ivana Larrosa

Join artist-in-res­i­dence Ivana Lar­rosa on August 8 for an expand­ed cin­e­ma per­for­mance that com­bines live pro­jec­tion, video, light, hair, and rit­u­al as a col­lec­tive prac­tice of resilience, migra­tion, and belong­ing. Cre­at­ed in col­lab­o­ra­tion with six­teen immi­grant women on Gov­er­nors Island, the work trans­forms filmed por­traits through live inter­ven­tions that merge the body with the Island’s nat­ur­al ele­ments to reveal each par­tic­i­pan­t’s emo­tion­al aura.

A screen­ing of the per­for­mance will be on view Sun­day, August 9.
