NYC Poetry Festival After Party

NYC Poet­ry Fes­ti­val is clos­ing out this year’s mod­ern Odyssey with their own kind of home­com­ing: a gath­er­ing of poets, myth­mak­ers and fire-keep­ers to rev­el in more poet­ry, music, and danc­ing. As the sun sets over the wine-dark sea, join in the cel­e­bra­tion at the gor­geous sculp­ture, BIRD MMXXI­II, for the first-ever NYCPoFest After Par­ty, co-curat­ed with the artist behind this work, Sheila Berg­er. NYCPoFest is thrilled to part­ner with Sheila and Gov­er­nors Island Arts to host an evening com­plete with a live DJ set, food and liba­tions, poet­ry read­ings, and a big, com­mu­nal toast to 15 years of keep­ing poet­ry free and open to the public. 

This event will take place near Ham­mock Grove on Gov­er­nors Island, is free to attend, and open to ages 21+. This event is co-curat­ed by Sheila Berg­er and co-pro­duced by Gov­er­nors Island Arts.

About NYCPoFest

The New York City Poet­ry Fes­ti­val unites the vibrant & wild­ly diverse poet­ry com­mu­ni­ty of New York City & beyond, invit­ing poet­ry orga­ni­za­tions & col­lec­tives of all kinds to bring their unique styles & voic­es. At the heart of the fes­ti­val is a deeply held belief that poet­ry should be free & for all. NYCPoFest believes poet­ry belongs every­where — in parks, fer­ries, gar­dens, & pub­lic squares — not just in bars, book­stores, & universities.

For one week­end each sum­mer, the fes­ti­val brings poets out into the day­light to gath­er, read, teach, lis­ten, per­form, exper­i­ment, col­lab­o­rate, & cel­e­brate the strange, beau­ti­ful art of lan­guage together.

By gath­er­ing the largest com­mu­ni­ty of poets in the coun­try, The New York City Poet­ry Fes­ti­val is a week­end of lit­er­ary mag­ic that shines a bright pub­lic light on poetry!
