NYC Poetry Festival is closing out this year’s modern Odyssey with their own kind of homecoming: a gathering of poets, mythmakers and fire-keepers to revel in more poetry, music, and dancing. As the sun sets over the wine-dark sea, join in the celebration at the gorgeous sculpture, BIRD MMXXIII, for the first-ever NYCPoFest After Party, co-curated with the artist behind this work, Sheila Berger. NYCPoFest is thrilled to partner with Sheila and Governors Island Arts to host an evening complete with a live DJ set, food and libations, poetry readings, and a big, communal toast to 15 years of keeping poetry free and open to the public.
This event will take place near Hammock Grove on Governors Island, is free to attend, and open to ages 21+. This event is co-curated by Sheila Berger and co-produced by Governors Island Arts.

About NYCPoFest
The New York City Poetry Festival unites the vibrant & wildly diverse poetry community of New York City & beyond, inviting poetry organizations & collectives of all kinds to bring their unique styles & voices. At the heart of the festival is a deeply held belief that poetry should be free & for all. NYCPoFest believes poetry belongs everywhere — in parks, ferries, gardens, & public squares — not just in bars, bookstores, & universities.
For one weekend each summer, the festival brings poets out into the daylight to gather, read, teach, listen, perform, experiment, collaborate, & celebrate the strange, beautiful art of language together.
By gathering the largest community of poets in the country, The New York City Poetry Festival is a weekend of literary magic that shines a bright public light on poetry!
