Permeable by Katerina Sokolovskaya Opening

Per­me­able is a solo exhi­bi­tion by Kate­ri­na Sokolovskaya, pre­sent­ed as part of the New Women New York­ers Res­i­den­cy on Gov­er­nors Island. Per­me­able brings togeth­er Kate­ri­na Sokolovskaya’s sculp­tures and works on paper, explor­ing mate­r­i­al trans­for­ma­tion, the body, and the unsta­ble space between fixed states.

Work­ing with acrylic plas­ter, sil­i­cone, ceram­ic, and wood, Sokolovskaya allows each mate­r­i­al to retain its own phys­i­cal behav­ior. Her sculp­tures evoke bod­ies with­out becom­ing fig­u­ra­tive, remain­ing sus­pend­ed between abstrac­tion and cor­po­re­al­i­ty and shaped by grav­i­ty, touch, pres­sure, and time.

New Women New York­ers is one of the 2026 Gov­er­nors Island Arts Orga­ni­za­tions in Res­i­dence.
