Stone Matsu is an interactive performance inspired by Matsu, Taiwan’s revered sea goddess and protector of travelers. Beginning at the northwest Governors Island ferry dock, Hui-Ying Tsai leads participants on a symbolic journey across the Island to Taiwanese American Arts Council’s historic house in Nolan Park. Through movement and collective participation, the performance connects migration, protection, memory, and journeys between islands. Following the procession’s arrival in Nolan Park, visitors are invited to stay for an afternoon of live music.

Taiwanese American Arts Council is one of the 2026 Governors Island Arts Organizations in Residence.
