STRAY GRAVITY Opening

Join New Women New York­ers for the open­ing of STRAY GRAV­I­TY, Yooyeon Nam’s solo exhi­bi­tion. Nam expands into mul­ti-fig­ure com­po­si­tions through her orig­i­nal char­ac­ters, trac­ing human con­nec­tions — from inti­ma­cy to qui­et his­tor­i­cal empa­thy. Cen­tral to her visu­al lan­guage are nose­less, expres­sion­less fig­ures inspired by Kore­an Bud­dhist sculp­tures. Where wings appear, they mark ordi­nary dif­fer­ence, embody­ing raw human vul­ner­a­bil­i­ty anda. con­scious, ongo­ing effort toward sol­i­dar­i­ty. With a vibrant, high-chro­ma palette and dense spa­tial lay­er­ing, Nam’s paint­ings refuse pas­sive com­fort, invit­ing view­ers to inhab­it the sub­tle ten­sions of connection.
