Tidal Flushing: A Conversation with Aviva Rahmani
Swale
Jun 7, 2026
Nolan Park - Nolan Park - Building 6B
Tidal Flushing addresses the implications of the fact that even if everyone were to stop all carbon emitting activities today, sea levels will continue to rise for thousands of years, swallowing enormous amounts of urban infrastructure and creating forced migrations for billions of people, often under traumatic circumstances, even as host countries attempt to shut the doors on desperation. The environmental dynamics of tidal flushing threatens one third of humanity living near marine coasts. Without mitigation, the effects will be that much more powerful, chaotic, and irremediable.
Join Aviva Rahmani at Swale on June 7 for a conversation that covers all this and more.
Swale is one of the 2026 Governors Island Arts Organizations in Residence.
