Based on Governors Island, Billion Oyster Project is restoring oyster populations to New York Harbor in collaboration with NYC communities and through public education initiatives, in turn improving water quality, fostering new marine habitats, and creating greater coastal resilience. Each weekend this season, Billion Oyster Project’s house will hold a “Meet the Oysters” display, inviting visitors to learn more about ecosystems and these engineers, their importance to New York Harbor, the organization’s mission, and how everyone can get involved.
