Founded by visionary community leaders in 1962, the Bronx Council on the Arts (BCA) was one of the first organizations to focus on advancing cultural equity throughout the borough. Their mission is to nurture the development of a diverse array of Bronx-based artists and arts organizations in all disciplines, with special attention paid to artists from local, historically marginalized communities. Their work touches every district in the borough, from Mott Haven to Williamsbridge, and their programs are free.
This season, Bronx Council on the Arts will present Longwood @ Governors Island, an artist residency program that serves a cohort of five Bronx artists, providing them with free studio space, exposure through open studios, and other opportunities. They will also present workshops by resident artists every THIRD Saturday, performances, exhibitions, and other programs throughout the season.
