Founded by visionary community leaders in 1962, the Bronx Council on the Arts (BCA) was one of the first organizations to focus on advancing cultural equity throughout the borough. Their mission is to nurture the development of Bronx-based artists and arts organizations in all disciplines, with special attention paid to artists from historically marginalized communities.

The Longwood at Governors Island Artist Residency Program serves a cohort of five Bronx artists, providing them with free studio space, exposure through open studios, and other opportunities. They will also present exhibitions, performances, and other public programs throughout the season.
