Filmshop

Found­ed in 2009, Filmshop is a non­prof­it col­lec­tive of inde­pen­dent film­mak­ers com­mit­ted to devel­op­ing new work through peer sup­port and col­lab­o­ra­tion. Dur­ing the 2025 sea­son, the Filmshop House will host week­ly pub­lic screen­ings show­cas­ing mem­bers’ short films, nar­ra­tive films, doc­u­men­taries, and works-in-progress. Film­mak­er Q&As will offer vis­i­tors behind-the-scenes insights into the cre­ative process, and spe­cial events will include film­mak­ing work­shops for all ages, a live music show­case, and themed screen­ing series. 

Vis­i­tors can also explore their lend­ing library, spend time in their med­i­ta­tion and cre­ativ­i­ty room, and check out an exhib­it high­light­ing movie posters designed for their annu­al Filmshop Presents themed short film show­case. All week­end events are open to the pub­lic, pro­vid­ing an inti­mate win­dow into their dynam­ic film­mak­ing com­mu­ni­ty, which spans chap­ters in Brook­lyn, Man­hat­tan, Los Ange­les, and vir­tu­al­ly in the South and Europe.
