Founded in 2022 by Juilliard graduates, The Glass Clouds Ensemble (GCE) is a chamber music collective that performs imaginative, uplifting concerts of classical & contemporary music centered around environmental themes and community partnerships. GCE has formed a wide community of NYC musicians, visual artists, dancers, and local environmental organizations. They perform concerts of varying instrumentation for voice and strings. GCE’s activities are rooted in partnerships with local environmental organizations, including Beyond Organic Design (2022), Earth Matter NY (202325), and the Climate Imaginarium (2025). Collaborations involve hands-on volunteering, rehearsal residencies, and the commissioning and performance of site-specific music. GCE loves working with artists across disciplines, curating performances in dialogue with contemporary artists across different mediums for upcoming exhibitions.

GCE’s performances and installations this year will center deep listening” — an accessible environmentalist practice inspired by luminary composer Pauline Oliveros, encouraging people to listen closely to their natural surroundings through meditative prompts and exercises.
