Nolan Park - Nolan Park - Building 14
Pratt, one of the core partners of the future New York Climate Exchange alongside SUNY Stony Brook and other partners, is open weekends in Nolan Park. Over the past four years, research, programs, workshops, and events in their Nolan Park space have anchored the curriculum of several graduate programs in the School of Architecture, included work of Pratt Faculty at large, and provided the foundation of the newly launched Pratt Center for Climate Adaptation — which helps to program and oversee the house on behalf of the institute at large. Using various sites throughout the Island, students and faculty are actively studying issues of climate adaptation focused on the built/natural environment through the development of prototypes that have application beyond the Island itself. The house allows the students and faculty of Pratt to share work with the public and use the site and its surroundings as a living laboratory of design research.
Nolan Park 14 opens in three stages throughout the Indoor Programming Season. Currently on display is the first of three stages including two exhibitions in the center and upper portions of the house. Coming soon are two anchoring exhibitions in the flanking left and right galleries. The last and final stage in the Fall will see a rotation of the center and upper portions of the house. The exhibitions all focus on climate adaptation, relate to the degree offering programs and research throughout the Institute, and showcase partners and collaborators in New York City and beyond.
