TransBorder Art

Trans­Bor­der Art pro­vides audi­ences with free, rel­e­vant, and thought-pro­vok­ing TV con­tent rel­a­tive to the con­tem­po­rary world from an artist’s point of view, aired on NYC com­mu­ni­ty pub­lic access tele­vi­sions five times a week. Each 28-minute episode rais­es fun­da­men­tal ques­tions around exist­ing cul­tur­al dis­course regard­ing gen­der, iden­ti­ty, pol­i­tics, immi­gra­tion, and/​or technology.

On Gov­er­nors Island, Trans­bor­der Art will host 23 artists and five cura­tors, cre­at­ing works inspired by New York City’s nat­ur­al ecosys­tems. The res­i­den­cy’s mis­sion is a twofold learn­ing expe­ri­ence: engag­ing the pub­lic vis­it­ing the Island through enjoy­ment and par­tic­i­pa­tion in artist work­shops along with allow­ing the artists to inter­act with the com­mu­ni­ty and enrich their work.
