The GrowNYC Teach­ing Gar­den at Gov­er­nors Island is a one acre urban farm that aims to engage, excite, and edu­cate its vis­i­tors in all aspects of urban farm­ing. Week­end pub­lic pro­gram­ming includes fam­i­ly friend­ly activ­i­ties such as scav­enger hunts, self guid­ed tours, a dig bed, gar­den and art work­shops, and more! Dona­tion based farm stand (most prices $0 – 3) runs every Sat­ur­day fea­tur­ing fresh pro­duce, herbs, and flow­ers plant­ed by NYC pub­lic school stu­dents dur­ing edu­ca­tion­al field trips. Come by to water the plants and get your hands dirty at the teach­ing garden!
