West Harlem Art Fund
May 1—Oct 31, 2021
Nolan Park - Building 10B
The West Harlem Art Fund (WHAF) is a twenty-three-year old, public art & new media organization. Like explorers from the past, who searched for new lands and people, WHAF seek opportunities for creative professionals throughout NYC and beyond wishing to showcase and share their talent.
West Harlem Art Fund returns to Governors Island in 2021 with two art exhibitions (spring and fall), outdoor sculptures, in-person classes, literary reading & artist residency during the months of July and August.
Visual Muze is WHAF’s unique storytelling residency and retreat. It provides visual artists, performance artists, multi-media designers, and writers the opportunity to explore narrative forms within collaborative projects. Participants can choose to work independently or in teams to create original works. Visual Muze is co-directed by Nadia DeLane & Savona Bailey McClain.
The indoor spring show We Are In Reach features, Dario Mohr, Kraig Blue and Jannette Jwahir Hawkins with antiquities from Throckmorton Fine Arts Gallery. Capacity limits will be in place for visitors viewing the indoor exhibition.
WHAF is also proud to present Gilbert Boro and Michele Brody as their 2021 public artists.
